Following a massive barrage of nearly 70 missiles launched by Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for “more tangible” international pressure on Moscow to pave the way for “real diplomacy” and a possible end to the ongoing war.
Addressing the nation, Zelenskyy highlighted the severe situation on the frontlines, noting that the existing global efforts to pressure Russia are “insufficient” to halt the aggression. “Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi provided an update on the frontline situation. In many directions, the situation remains difficult. By midday alone, there had already been nearly 70 Russian assaults,” Zelenskyy posted on X.
The fiercest combat continues in the Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk, Lyman, and Kursk directions. Despite intense attacks, Zelenskyy praised the bravery and resilience of Ukrainian brigades, singling out units such as the 3rd Operational Brigade of the National Guard, the 59th Separate Assault Brigade, and others for their outstanding defence efforts.
Zelenskyy also criticised Russia for ignoring a full and unconditional ceasefire proposal initiated by the United States and accepted by Ukraine on March 11. He stressed that nearly 50 days have passed without any response from Moscow.
“Ukraine continues to defend its independence and its land in battles. The reality on the frontlines shows that more decisive global pressure on Russia is essential to create real diplomatic opportunities,” Zelenskyy said, expressing gratitude to Ukraine’s international allies for their ongoing support.
