The United States extended warm greetings to India on its 76th Republic Day, commending the enduring significance of India’s Constitution as the cornerstone of the world’s largest democracy.

In an official statement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio underscored the growing strength of the India-US partnership, calling it the “defining relationship of the 21st century.”

“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of India as they celebrate their nation’s Republic Day. As they commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, we join them in recognizing its enduring significance as the foundation of the world’s largest democracy,” Rubio said.

Rubio emphasized the United States’ commitment to deepening cooperation with India, particularly within the framework of the Quad alliance, which includes Australia, Japan, and the US. He highlighted the Quad’s role in fostering a “free, open, and prosperous” Indo-Pacific region.

“The partnership between the United States and India continues to reach new heights and will be a defining relationship of the 21st century,” he added. “The enduring friendship between our peoples propels us forward as we unlock the tremendous potential of our economic relationship. We look forward to advancing joint efforts in space research and strengthening Quad cooperation to ensure peace and security in the Indo-Pacific.”

India marks its 76th Republic Day with a spectacular display of cultural diversity, unity, equality, development, and military strength at Kartavya Path. President Droupadi Murmu will lead the celebrations, with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attending as the Chief Guest.

Earlier this week, Marco Rubio began his tenure as US Secretary of State by hosting a Quad meeting with the Foreign Ministers of India, Australia, and Japan. The discussions centered on strengthening economic opportunities and ensuring regional security in the Indo-Pacific.

Rubio met with India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar in Washington, DC, where both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to the India-US partnership. They explored ways to deepen bilateral ties and addressed key regional issues.

Rubio also expressed the Trump Administration’s intent to collaborate with India on advancing economic relations and addressing concerns related to irregular migration.

The US continues to see India as a critical partner in fostering global peace, prosperity, and security, with shared values and mutual goals strengthening this vital relationship.
