Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha on Friday expressed his gratitude to India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar for their “meaningful meeting” and highlighted their shared interest in strengthening cooperation between India and Ukraine across various sectors, including trade, technology, agriculture, and security.

The two ministers met on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in Munich, Germany, where they discussed ongoing efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Sybiha took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank Jaishankar, saying, “I thank @DrSJaishankar for our meaningful meeting. We are interested in developing relations with India and advancing cooperation in trade, technology, agriculture, security, and other areas. We also rely on India’s strong global voice to bring a just and lasting peace closer.”

Jaishankar also shared his thoughts in a post on X, saying, “Good to meet FM @andrii_sybiha of Ukraine on sidelines of #MSC2025 today. Discussed ongoing efforts towards resolution of the Ukraine conflict. Also spoke about further advancement of our bilateral cooperation.”

The war between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing since February 2022, and India has consistently called for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy. India has also expressed its readiness to play a constructive role in facilitating peace.

In addition to his meeting with Sybiha, Jaishankar also met with the Minister-President of Bavaria, Markus Soder, during the MSC. The two leaders discussed strengthening economic and technological cooperation and exchanged views on the international situation. Jaishankar expressed his anticipation of welcoming Soder to India in the near future, stating, “Delighted to meet Minister-President @Markus_Soeder of Bavaria again in Munich today. Discussed our economic and technology cooperation. Exchanged views about the international situation. Look forward to welcoming him to India.”

During a panel discussion, Jaishankar also spoke positively about India’s democracy, emphasizing its successful track record. He discussed how elections are conducted in India, highlighting the recent Delhi and 2024 parliamentary elections as examples of the democratic process in action.
