Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that high-level military talks with the United States are scheduled for next week, following US President Donald Trump’s reaffirmation of Washington’s commitment to resume weapons shipments to Ukraine.

In a public address on Friday, Zelenskyy welcomed the restoration of military aid, revealing that General Keith Kellogg, Assistant to the US President and Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, will travel to Kyiv for the upcoming discussions.

“Right now, we are working with our partners on new, increased weapons production in Ukraine and equipping our army. We already have good agreements and expect to reach more,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian President confirmed that Kyiv has received positive political signals from the US and European allies. “According to all reports, aid shipments have resumed. We will continue our military-level coordination with the American side,” he added.

Zelenskyy also called for stronger sanctions against Russia, stressing that international pressure is crucial to ending the war, now entering its third year. “We are also preparing new European defence packages. Strong steps are expected soon, including additional sanctions against Russia,” he stated.

Earlier this week, President Trump, in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, reiterated support for Ukraine, confirming that US weapons would be sent either directly or through NATO allies. The shift came after reports that the Trump administration had temporarily paused certain weapons deliveries amid a broader review of US military aid, CNN reported.

The resumption of US military assistance follows a massive Russian drone and missile strike on Kyiv on July 4, in which over 500 drones and 11 missiles were launched, killing one person and injuring at least 23 others, according to Al Jazeera.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio further clarified that in some cases, it would be faster for NATO allies to transfer weapons to Ukraine from European stockpiles than to ship them from American factories.

The developments mark a significant step in Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its defence amid continued Russian aggression and growing demands for international military and diplomatic support.
