The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Italy have strongly condemned Iran’s missile attack on Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, denouncing it as a blatant violation of international law, Qatari sovereignty, and regional peace.

In coordinated statements issued on Tuesday, the three countries expressed solidarity with Qatar and warned that continued military provocations by Iran risk plunging the region into deeper instability.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) described the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ strike as a “flagrant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty and a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter. “Such actions threaten the safety of the Qatari people and undermine regional security,” the UAE said, adding full support for Qatar’s right to take protective measures.

The UAE also stressed the urgent need to halt military escalation and emphasized diplomacy as the only viable solution. “The Ministry calls for implementing diplomatic solutions grounded in good neighbourliness, highlighting that serious dialogue is essential to restoring regional peace,” the statement read.

Echoing similar sentiments, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled the Iranian aggression as “entirely unacceptable” and reaffirmed its unwavering support for Qatar. “The Kingdom places all its capabilities at Qatar’s disposal to help confront this unjustified threat,” the statement said.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also expressed solidarity with Qatar through a post on X, stating she has been in regular contact with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and other Gulf leaders. “We all agree on the need to return immediately to the negotiating table and resume political dialogue to ensure regional stability,” Meloni wrote.

The condemnations come in the wake of a major escalation in West Asia after Iran launched multiple missiles at US military sites in Qatar and Iraq, including Al Udeid Air Base — the largest American military installation in the region. The Iranian attack is widely believed to be a retaliatory move following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow earlier on Sunday.
