US President Donald Trump has ignited controversy by sharing an AI-generated video on his Truth Social account, depicting Gaza as a luxury beach resort, CNN reported. The video promotes Trump’s proposal to expel 2.1 million Palestinians and transform Gaza into a US-owned “Riviera,” drawing widespread condemnation.
The video, set to upbeat music, shows an exaggerated and surreal vision of a rebuilt Gaza — featuring a golden statue of Trump, Elon Musk dancing while eating hummus under falling dollar bills, and American and Israeli leaders relaxing on a beach. A voiceover proclaims, “No more tunnels, no more fear — Trump Gaza is finally here!”
The video opens with barefoot Palestinian children walking through the rubble of Gaza before cutting to a futuristic skyline along the coast. “Donald’s coming to set you free,” the song continues. It also features scenes of beach parties, belly dancers, and a child holding a golden balloon shaped like Trump’s head, ending with Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sipping drinks by the sea.
The reaction to Trump’s vision has been swift and severe. The Palestinian Authority (PA) called the plan a “serious violation of international law,” with PA Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen warning against any efforts to displace Palestinians, referencing past displacements from the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.
Gaza’s Hamas-run Government Media Office condemned the video as “disgraceful,” with Director-General Ismail Al-Thawabtah accusing Trump of promoting a “racist colonial mindset” and attempting to “legitimize ongoing ethnic cleansing with American support.”
While it remains unclear whether Trump intends to act on this proposal, the backlash is growing. Arab leaders are planning follow-up meetings in Cairo on March 4 to discuss a collective response. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has rejected the idea of an independent Palestinian state and supported Trump’s vision of US ownership of Gaza.
