Former President Donald Trump celebrated a major legislative victory as the Republican-led US Congress passed the much-anticipated ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’, narrowly clearing the House with a 218-214 vote. In response, Trump announced a grand bill signing ceremony at the White House on Independence Day.

Expressing his enthusiasm on Truth Social, Trump declared, “The Republicans in the House of Representatives have just passed the ‘ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL ACT.’ Our Party is UNITED like never before, and our Country is HOT.”

He invited all members of Congress and the Senate to attend the celebratory signing, scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. EST. “Together, we will celebrate our Nation’s Independence and the beginning of our new Golden Age. The people of the United States of America will be Richer, Safer, and Prouder than ever before,” Trump wrote.

The bill, described as a legislative package combining tax cuts, increased defense spending, and enhanced border security measures, now awaits Trump’s signature. It passed the Senate earlier this week in a 51-50 vote, with Vice-President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.

Despite near-unified Republican support, Representatives Thomas Massie and Brian Fitzpatrick voted against the bill in the House, according to The Hill.

Trump also thanked key Republican leaders for their role in the bill’s passage: “Thank you to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and all the wonderful Republican Members of Congress who helped us deliver on our Promises. Together, we can do things that were not even imagined possible less than one year ago.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the signing will take place on July 4, calling it a “big, beautiful signing ceremony,” as Trump had envisioned.

The bill marks a significant political win for Trump and the GOP, arriving symbolically on Independence Day as the former president continues to rally support ahead of the 2024 election.
