US President Donald Trump declared that his administration had accomplished more in 43 days than most do in four or eight years, stating that the United States is on the “verge of a comeback, the likes of which has never been witnessed.”

Addressing the joint session of Congress on Tuesday (local time) for the first time since assuming office for his second term, Trump received a standing ovation and chants of “USA, USA” from Republican lawmakers after beginning his speech by announcing, “America is back.”

“Six weeks ago, I stood beneath the dome of this capitol and proclaimed the dawn of the golden age of America. From that moment on, it has been nothing but swift and unrelenting action to usher in the greatest and most successful era in the history of our country,” Trump said. “We have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplished in four years or eight years, and we are just getting started. Our spirit is back, our pride is back, and our confidence is back. The American Dream is surging bigger and better than ever before.”

Recalling his election victory, Trump claimed the presidential election of November 5 was a “mandate like has not been seen in many decades,” emphasizing his win across all seven battleground states. As he spoke, Democratic Representative Al Green interrupted, prompting a swift and loud response from Republicans who drowned out the disruption with chants of “USA, USA.”

Speaker Mike Johnson quickly intervened, warning of a breach of decorum and threatening to direct the Sergeant at Arms to restore order. After repeated disruptions, Johnson ordered Green’s removal from the chamber.

Trump went on to highlight his administration’s rapid action since January 20, boasting of signing nearly 100 executive orders and taking over 400 executive actions. “The people elected me to do the job, and I am doing it,” he said.

He also addressed his administration’s response to border security, noting the declaration of a national emergency at the southern border within hours of taking office. “As a result, illegal border crossings last month were by far the lowest ever recorded,” Trump claimed.

Taking a swipe at his predecessor, Joe Biden, Trump called him “the worst President in American history,” blaming the previous administration for high numbers of illegal crossings and economic setbacks.

Expressing frustration with Democratic lawmakers, Trump claimed that nothing he could say or do would make them happy. “I could find a cure to the most devastating disease or announce the greatest economic achievements, and they still wouldn’t stand or applaud,” he said.

Despite the controversy and interruptions, Trump’s address reinforced his administration’s commitment to what he described as a historic and unstoppable resurgence for America.
