Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, heading an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation to Japan, paid tribute to Indian freedom fighter Rash Behari Bose at his memorial in Tokyo. Joined by former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, the visit underscored India’s enduring historical ties with Japan and its commitment to preserving the legacy of freedom fighters abroad.

Rash Behari Bose, a revolutionary who played a critical role in India’s independence movement, later founded the Indian Independence League and was instrumental in establishing the Indian National Army. His memorial in Tokyo serves as a symbol of Indo-Japanese solidarity.

Speaking to ANI at the site, Sanjay Jha summarized the delegation’s highly productive Japan visit, which included 14–15 meetings with Japanese parliamentarians, think tanks, leaders, and the Indian diaspora. “Our delegation successfully communicated India’s firm stance against terrorism. We clarified that if Pakistan continues to support terrorist activities, India will not tolerate it,” Jha stated.

He also briefed interlocutors on Operation Sindoor, explaining that India’s military action was strictly limited to terrorist hideouts and not against civilian or military targets. The delegation also discussed the recent suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, citing Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism.

Jha is leading a nine-member delegation comprising BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradhan Baruah, Hemang Joshi, TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, former MEA Salman Khurshid, and Ambassador Mohan Kumar. Their mission is part of a broader global outreach aimed at garnering international support against terrorism and reinforcing India’s diplomatic narrative following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Earlier, while addressing the Indian diaspora in Tokyo, Jha emphasized the unity displayed by Indian political parties in confronting terrorism. “We may have political disagreements and fight elections against one another, but when it comes to national interest, we stand united,” he said.

The delegation’s visit to Japan marks the first stop in a broader tour of East Asian countries and reflects a rare moment of cross-party consensus in India’s foreign policy approach to counterterrorism.
