Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a bilateral meeting with United States Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in New Delhi on Monday, focusing on defence cooperation and intelligence sharing between the two nations.

Singh shared details of the discussion on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Happy to have met the US Director of National Intelligence Ms Tulsi Gabbard in New Delhi. We discussed a wide range of issues which include defence and information sharing, aiming to further deepen the India-US partnership.”

Gabbard is visiting India as part of her multi-nation trip, which includes engagements with key Indian leaders. Her visit will conclude with an address on March 18 at the Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, where she was invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Saturday, Gabbard also met with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to discuss various aspects of the India-US relationship, according to sources.

Her trip follows PM Modi’s visit to the US in February, where he met Gabbard and praised her as a “strong advocate” of India-US ties. Gabbard called it an “honour” to welcome PM Modi and expressed her commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Apart from her official meetings, Gabbard will also participate in a keynote discussion with ORF President Samir Saran during the Raisina Dialogue, which is co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Raisina Dialogue today, with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon delivering the keynote address. The event, running from March 17-19, will bring together global leaders and policymakers to discuss pressing geopolitical and economic challenges.
