PM Modi Receives Key to Buenos Aires, Highlights Strengthening India-Argentina Ties

During his time in Buenos Aires, PM Modi also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with the Key to the City of Buenos Aires on Saturday, symbolising the growing friendship and trust between India and Argentina during his official visit to the Latin American nation.

The ceremonial honour was presented by Jorge Macri, Chief of the City Government of Buenos Aires. PM Modi shared his gratitude on X, stating, “Honoured to receive the Key to the City of Buenos Aires from Mr. Jorge Macri.”

Earlier in the visit, PM Modi held wide-ranging discussions with Argentine President Javier Milei, describing the talks as “productive” and expressing confidence in the future of bilateral ties.

“My visit to Argentina has been a productive one. I am confident that our discussions will add significant momentum to our bilateral friendship and fulfil the strong potential that exists,” PM Modi posted on X.

He said the two leaders explored avenues to diversify cooperation in trade, agriculture, defence, security, energy, pharmaceuticals, and sports.

During his time in Buenos Aires, PM Modi also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore.

Following his Argentina visit, the Prime Minister departed for Brazil, the fourth destination in his five-nation tour. He will attend the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where discussions will focus on global peace, climate action, multilateralism, responsible AI use, health, and economic matters.

PM Modi is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brasília to strengthen strategic cooperation in areas such as trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, and healthcare.
