Prime Minister Narendra Modi met King Charles III at the Sandringham Estate on Thursday, holding comprehensive discussions on strengthening India-UK relations, sustainability, wellness, and shared cultural values.

In a post on X, PM Modi described the meeting as “very good” and noted that the two leaders discussed trade, investment, education, and wellness — particularly Yoga and Ayurveda — areas that align with King Charles’ long-standing interests. They also exchanged views on environmental protection and sustainable living.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the talks focused on deepening bilateral collaboration, particularly through initiatives like Mission LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Ayurveda, and Yoga, aiming to share their global benefits, including in the UK.

Marking the King’s commitment to sustainability, PM Modi gifted him a sapling as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree for Mother) campaign. The sapling will be planted at Sandringham Estate during the autumn planting season. PM Modi lauded King Charles’ passion for nature and said his participation in the green campaign would inspire many worldwide.

Later in the day, PM Modi met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, where they viewed an exhibition highlighting the strength of India-UK economic ties. Both leaders interacted with top industry leaders and celebrated the signing of the landmark India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which is expected to significantly boost bilateral trade, investment, and innovation.

“The signing of CETA has opened up new avenues for trade and investment. It marks a pivotal step in strengthening our economic partnership,” PM Modi said in another post on X.

The exhibition featured flagship products and innovations from both countries, including gems and jewellery, engineering goods, consumer products, and advanced tech solutions.

Expressing gratitude to PM Starmer for the warm reception, PM Modi said their discussions reflected a strong, shared resolve to deepen India-UK cooperation across sectors.
