Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted the growing relationship between India and the United States, drawing a parallel between India’s “Viksit Bharat” vision and the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) slogan from the US. He introduced the term “Make India Great Again” (MIGA), symbolizing the shared goals of both nations.

In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi celebrated the partnership, stating, “President Trump often talks about MAGA. In India, we are working towards a Viksit Bharat, which in the American context translates into MIGA. And together, India and the USA have a MEGA partnership for prosperity!”

In a follow-up post, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of his meeting with President Trump at the White House, describing it as a critical step towards further strengthening the ties between the two countries. “An excellent meeting with POTUS Donald Trump at the White House. Our talks will add significant momentum to the India-USA friendship,” he wrote.

During a joint press conference, PM Modi explained that while the American people are familiar with Trump’s “MAGA” slogan, Indians are focused on their vision for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047. He emphasized that as both nations collaborate, the combination of MAGA and MIGA creates a “mega partnership for prosperity.” “When America and India work together, this MAGA plus MIGA becomes a ‘mega partnership for prosperity,’ and it is this mega spirit that gives new scale and scope to our objectives,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi also announced that India and the US have set an ambitious target to increase bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. He mentioned that both countries will work together to finalize a mutually beneficial trade agreement. “Today, we have also set a target to increase our bilateral trade to more than double, reaching USD 500 billion by 2030. Our teams will work on finalizing very soon a mutually beneficial trade agreement,” he added.

Further reinforcing the growing cooperation, PM Modi emphasized that India and the US are advancing in the areas of joint development, joint production, and the transfer of technology.
