PM Modi Hails “Productive” Tokyo Visit as India, Japan Seal Key Strategic, Economic and Technology Pacts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday described his Tokyo visit as “productive” and expressed confidence that the India-Japan partnership will continue to scale new heights in the coming years.

Taking to X, the Prime Minister wrote: “Productive outcomes during a productive visit. May India-Japan friendship scale newer heights in the times to come!”

During his two-day visit, both countries announced a series of landmark agreements spanning defence, economy, technology, sustainability and people-to-people exchanges. The major highlights included:

The visit also reinforced regional and sub-national cooperation, with plans for enhanced exchanges between Indian states and Japanese prefectures such as Kansai and Kyushu, alongside new business forums to deepen economic and cultural linkages.

Prime Minister Modi attended the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit during the trip. Following his Tokyo engagements, he is scheduled to travel to Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
