Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina on Friday, marking the third leg of his five-nation tour, following visits to Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago. He landed at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, where he was warmly received by members of the Indian diaspora.
PM Modi is visiting Argentina at the invitation of President Javier Milei. During his stay, the Prime Minister will hold delegation-level talks with President Milei at Casa Rosada, the official presidential office, to review bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities to deepen ties in sectors such as defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade, investment, and people-to-people connections.
According to Indian Ambassador to Argentina Ajaneesh Kumar, PM Modi will also pay homage at Plaza de San Martin, a historic site dedicated to Jose de San Martin, the Father of the Argentine Nation. He will be accompanied by Argentina’s Foreign Minister for the tribute.
Ambassador Kumar described the visit as a significant milestone in India-Argentina relations and noted that it is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in over 50 years.
After concluding his engagements in Argentina, PM Modi will continue his tour with a visit to Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit, followed by a final stop in Namibia, where he is expected to address the nation’s Parliament.
