Panamanian Foreign Minister Javier Martinez Acha on Wednesday strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 people. Reaffirming Panama’s commitment to global efforts against terrorism, Acha declared that nations providing safe haven to terrorists must face condemnation.

“Your visit here represents more than you can imagine: Panama’s commitment to fighting against terrorism and standing united against such attacks that affect us all. We condemn what happened in Kashmir. Any country in the world that serves as a safe haven for terrorists should be condemned,” Acha said during a meeting with an Indian multi-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

During the meeting, the Indian delegation presented evidence of Pakistani Army officials attending the funeral of UN-designated terrorists killed in India’s Operation Sindoor, highlighting Pakistan’s alleged state complicity in fostering terrorism.

Acha, speaking to ANI after the meeting, reinforced Panama’s position: “We cannot tolerate countries sponsoring terrorism. Regarding terrorism, we stand with India. We are a democratic country, and India is the largest democracy in the world. Together, we will fight against all forms of terrorism.”

Earlier in the day, the Indian delegation also met with Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino at the Presidential House to discuss broader issues of security cooperation and mutual support.

The delegation includes representatives from multiple Indian political parties: Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayagi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejaswi Surya, Bhubaneswar Kalita (all BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena), former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora.

The visit is part of India’s international diplomatic campaign to rally global condemnation of cross-border terrorism and underscore its zero-tolerance approach to state-sponsored extremism.
