Pakistan Violates LoC Ceasefire, India Responds Firmly Amid Heightened Tensions Post-Pahalgam Attack

Tensions flared along the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday as Pakistani troops initiated small arms fire at multiple locations. The Indian Army responded swiftly and effectively, according to official sources.

“Small Arm Firing at some places on Line of Control initiated by Pakistan Army. Effectively responded to by Indian Army. No casualties,” Indian Army officials confirmed. Additional details on the incident are awaited.

The LoC skirmish comes just days after a deadly terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people—mostly tourists—were killed. The brutal assault has triggered widespread national outrage and spurred a series of diplomatic and military escalations between India and Pakistan.

In response to the Pahalgam massacre, the Indian government has taken a series of stern measures against Pakistan. These include:

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated, “The Defence/Military, Naval and Air Advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared Persona Non Grata. They have a week to leave India. India will be withdrawing its own Defence/Navy/Air Advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.”

Further intensifying the pressure, India has also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a landmark water-sharing agreement signed in 1960, citing Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism.

With rising tensions on both diplomatic and military fronts, the situation along the LoC remains closely monitored. India has reaffirmed its resolve to respond to provocations with firmness while holding Pakistan accountable for acts of terror.
