In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States has launched successful airstrikes on three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — marking a significant military intervention amid the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump declared: “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran… A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home… Now is the time for peace!”

The strikes, if confirmed by the Pentagon, would represent the first direct US air assault on Iranian nuclear infrastructure since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, a move long avoided by past US administrations despite mounting tensions over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

Trump praised the operation and the military personnel involved, stating, “Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the world that could have done this.”

According to sources, the Fordow facility, built deep underground, was the primary target and received the brunt of the assault. It is considered one of Iran’s most fortified uranium enrichment sites.
The Natanz facility, previously damaged by Israeli strikes earlier in the week, was also hit again, and the Isfahan site, which reportedly stores near-weapons-grade enriched uranium, was targeted as well.

The New York Times confirmed that the Fordow and Natanz facilities were Iran’s central enrichment hubs. Analysts suggest the strike may have used the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP)—a 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bomb that only the US B-2 stealth bombers are capable of carrying.

Coinciding with the strikes, CNN reported that several B-2 Spirit stealth bombers took off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and were tracked flying westward, possibly toward Guam, although it remains unconfirmed whether they directly participated in the Iran strikes.

Supporting these movements, eight KC-135 Stratotankers were also deployed for mid-air refueling, highlighting the scale and coordination of the operation.

The US strike comes after days of mounting conflict between Israel and Iran, which began on June 13 with Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion” — a massive air assault on Iranian nuclear and military targets.

Iran retaliated with “Operation True Promise 3”, led by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), targeting Israeli energy infrastructure with drone and missile strikes.

Trump’s decision to engage militarily marks a pivotal shift, effectively bringing the US into direct combat against Iran, and dramatically increasing the risk of a broader regional war.

While Trump emphasized that “now is the time for peace,” defense analysts warn the strikes could provoke a fierce Iranian response, escalating the conflict beyond the current theatre of war.

As global leaders brace for potential fallout, the coming days are expected to test diplomatic channels, military readiness, and the fragile balance of power in the Middle East.
