Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa Gandhi Park in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday. During his visit, he praised Japan as one of the leading nations in technology and emphasized the “deep” relationship between India and Japan. He noted that the bond between the two countries has been further strengthened under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to reporters, Yadav stated, “I have come here to pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. The Global Investors’ Summit in Madhya Pradesh will be held on February 24-25, and Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate it. Japan is among the top nations in technology. The relationship between India and Japan has been longstanding. Even before India’s independence, leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rash Behari Bose, Swami Vivekananda, and Rabindranath Tagore had ties with Japan. This history is a source of pride for us.”

Yadav emphasized the importance of strengthening India-Japan relations, highlighting that new avenues for trade and cooperation should be explored. “This relationship must be deepened further, and new ways of cooperation should be established. We should stand together. The bond has only grown stronger since the formation of PM Modi’s government. We have the potential to work together on many fronts,” he said.

He also noted that the bust of Mahatma Gandhi, which he paid tribute to, was inaugurated by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. “We hope that Bapu’s principles of non-violence resonate with Japan’s core values of peace, exemplified by Gautam Buddha. Over time, our relationship with Japan has only grown closer. I had the pleasure of meeting many family members here, and we look forward to expanding this family. This region holds great potential,” Yadav added.

Yadav, who arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday for a four-day visit, was welcomed by India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George. Later, CM Yadav held a discussion with George at a Tokyo hotel, focusing on enhancing India-Japan relations and boosting trade and economic ties between Madhya Pradesh and Japan.

On the same day, CM Yadav met with representatives from Toyota in Tokyo. During the meeting, he invited Toyota to attend the upcoming Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) 2025, which will take place in Bhopal on February 24-25. The two sides discussed potential investment opportunities, with Yadav highlighting Madhya Pradesh’s advantages, including abundant land, a skilled workforce, excellent infrastructure, and a growing automobile sector.

“During a productive session with Toyota executives, including Toshiyuki Nakahara and Masahiro Nogi, we explored the abundant opportunities Madhya Pradesh offers, such as vast land, a skilled youth workforce, excellent infrastructure, and a rapidly growing automobile industry,” CM Yadav shared on X.

Toyota representatives acknowledged Madhya Pradesh’s potential as a key automobile manufacturing hub and expressed interest in exploring trade opportunities at GIS 2025. They also discussed their youth training programs in technical fields across India.
