US Vice President JD Vance expressed his excitement and honor at being sworn in as the 50th Vice President of the United States, emphasizing his eagerness to collaborate with President Donald Trump in serving the American people.
In a post on X, Vance wrote, “It’s an incredible honor to take the oath of office as the 50th Vice President of the United States. I look forward to working alongside President Trump to serve the American people. Let’s Make America Great Again!”
On Monday, JD Vance was sworn in at the US Capitol Rotunda in Washington, DC. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh administered the oath to Vance, with his wife, Usha Vance, holding the Bible and their daughter Mirabel Rose at his side. The couple’s two sons were also present at the ceremony.
Usha Vance, an Indian-American lawyer and the first Indian-American Second Lady of the United States, has deep roots in Andhra Pradesh, India. Born and raised in the US, Usha completed her education at prestigious institutions such as Cambridge and Yale University.
In Vance’s ancestral village of Vadluru in Andhra Pradesh, locals celebrated the occasion by bursting firecrackers in honor of his new role.
Earlier in the day, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States during the 60th Presidential Inauguration at the US Capitol. US Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath to Trump.
The inauguration was attended by outgoing President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former Presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush, and Barack Obama, as well as former First Ladies Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush. Trump’s family, including wife Melania Trump and children Ivanka, Donald Jr., Tiffany, Eric, and Barron, were also present. Prominent figures like Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai were in attendance.
In his inaugural address, President Trump reaffirmed his commitment to ‘Make America Great Again,’ declaring the start of a “golden age” for America and marking the day as “Liberation Day.” Reflecting on a recent assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Trump stated that “God saved” his life.
Trump further expressed confidence in America’s future, stating, “America will soon be greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before. I return to the presidency confident and optimistic that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success.” He emphasized the need to face the nation’s challenges with honesty, asserting that despite the hurdles, the momentum of change will lead to their eventual defeat.
