An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, spearheaded by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi, has concluded the Russian leg of its multi-nation tour under India’s global outreach initiative, Operation Sindoor. The group departed Moscow on Saturday night (local time) and is now en route to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, where they are expected to arrive on Sunday. One of the delegates, BJP MP Brijesh Chowta, had earlier departed separately for Ljubljana.

The visit to Russia underscored India’s commitment to its “zero tolerance” policy towards terrorism. Indian Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, emphasized the significance of the visit, highlighting the strong international message it conveyed about India’s stance against terrorism, particularly threats emanating from Pakistan.

“There is full understanding of the threat that terrorism from Pakistan poses to the global community, not just India,” Ambassador Kumar told ANI. “There is unwavering support for the fight against terrorism and recognition that it cannot be business as usual. India has every right to defend itself.”

He further noted that the visit reinforced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message about the “new normal” in India’s foreign policy, marked by a firm stand against terrorism. Kumar added that there is clear recognition in Russia of the involvement of Pakistani actors in global terror activities, citing instances such as Osama bin Laden’s presence in a military township and the training of terrorists at Pakistan-based institutions.

The Indian delegation includes representatives from across the political spectrum: SP MP Rajeev Rai, BJP’s Capt. Brijesh Chowta, RJD’s Prem Chand Gupta, AAP’s Ashok Kumar Mittal, and former Ambassador Manjeev S. Puri, in addition to Kanimozhi.

Following Slovenia, the group will continue its outreach in Greece, Latvia, and Spain, aiming to build global consensus around Operation Sindoor and bolster India’s call for united action against terrorism.
