India’s all-party delegation arrived in Moscow as part of its ongoing global outreach to expose cross-border terrorism and garner international support for its counter-terrorism efforts, especially in light of Operation Sindoor launched after the recent Pahalgam attack.
Speaking to ANI, Samajwadi Party leader Rajeev Rai emphasized Pakistan’s role in global terrorism: “Pakistan poses a threat not only to India but to the entire world. There’s hardly any terrorist incident around the globe where the trail doesn’t lead back to Pakistan.”
Rai praised Russia as a historic and reliable partner, stating that the Indian delegation came prepared with evidence to support its claims.
“Russia is our historical friend, standing by our side in every situation. It is important for the global community to isolate Pakistan.”
DMK MP and delegation leader Kanimozhi echoed similar sentiments, underlining the importance of India-Russia cooperation: “Russia has always been a strategic partner of India, working closely on diplomatic issues. In the wake of repeated terror attacks, including the recent one that claimed 26 lives, it’s crucial to engage Russia at every level.”
She added that the purpose of the visit is to represent India’s united political front on terrorism and make India’s stance known to Russian policymakers, think tanks, and the media.
“Our engagements include meetings with the Chair of the State Duma Committee, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, and several think tanks. We are here to explain how terrorism is affecting India and why the global community must come together to combat it.”
The Indian delegation to Russia includes MPs Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Rajeev Rai, Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Prem Chand Gupta, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, and former Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri. Upon arrival in Moscow, the delegation was welcomed by India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar.
This diplomatic mission is part of India’s broader initiative following Operation Sindoor, which involved precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack. India also responded effectively to subsequent Pakistani aggression before both sides agreed to halt military action after high-level communication between their respective DGMOs.
The delegation underscores India’s message of zero tolerance for terrorism, projecting a strong national consensus and determination to build global pressure against states that sponsor terrorism.
