An all-party parliamentary delegation led by NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule concluded its visit to Qatar, marking the first leg of a four-nation diplomatic outreach aimed at garnering international support against terrorism following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent military response, Operation Sindoor.

According to a statement from the Embassy of India in Qatar, the delegation held a series of high-level and constructive engagements with Qatari leaders, media, think tanks, academia, and the Indian community in Doha. The visit focused on strengthening bilateral understanding and communicating India’s firm and united stance on cross-border terrorism.

During the visit, the delegation met with key Qatari officials, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Interior Affairs Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani, and Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, among others.

A round-table discussion was also held with scholars and policy experts at the Middle East Council for Global Affairs. Additionally, members of the delegation engaged with the editorial teams of prominent newspapers such as Al Sharq and The Peninsula to further amplify India’s anti-terrorism message. A reception was held with the Indian diaspora on May 26, where the delegation acknowledged their contributions and commitment to national unity and pluralism.

The Indian delegation highlighted that the April 22 Pahalgam attack, in which 26 people including a Nepali citizen were killed, was a blatant act of cross-border terrorism. They explained that India’s response through Operation Sindoor was deliberate, proportionate, and aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure without escalating regional tensions.

The Qatari leadership reaffirmed its own zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and expressed solidarity with India. Qatar’s condemnation of the Pahalgam attack on April 23 was noted, as were recent high-level diplomatic engagements between the two countries, including a phone call between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani on May 6, and a follow-up conversation between Qatar’s Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on May 7.

In media interactions, Indian parliamentarians offered detailed briefings on the attack, India’s military and diplomatic responses, and the goals of their ongoing international tour. They also responded to queries about regional stability and global cooperation against terrorism.

Commending the Indian community in Qatar, the delegation praised their role in promoting values of tolerance and resisting divisive forces that threaten India’s social fabric.

The all-party team is now set to continue its tour, departing for South Africa on May 27 for the second leg of its international engagement.
