The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu held a solemn condolence meeting on Saturday to honor the victims of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian tourists and one Nepali citizen.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, speaking at the ceremony, strongly condemned the attack and emphasized the shared commitment of India and Nepal to confront and eradicate terrorism.

In a message posted on X, Deuba said, “Speaking at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu today, I strongly condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attacks and expressed my deep condolences for the lives lost. I extend my gratitude to the Government of India for their swift support in the immediate repatriation of the body of Sudip Neupane. As a trusted neighbour and long-standing friend, Nepal stands firmly with India in its fight against terrorism.”

Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, also expressed solidarity with India, condemning the “barbaric” attack and reaffirming Nepal’s unwavering commitment against terrorism.

Several notable leaders, including MPs Shekhar Koirala, NP Saud, Rajendra Bajgain, Mahanth Thakur, Ram Prakash Chaudhary, Sarbendra Nath Shukla, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Ram Hari Khatiwada, Shisir Khanal, and Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Rimal, joined members of the Indian diaspora in paying heartfelt tributes during the ceremony.

Earlier on Saturday, dozens of protestors from various organizations staged demonstrations near the Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu, accusing Pakistan of harboring terrorists and targeting Hindus in the Pahalgam attack.

The attack occurred on Tuesday at Baisaran, often referred to as ‘Mini Switzerland’ in Pahalgam. The Resistance Front, a proxy group for the banned Pakistan-based terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the massacre.

In response to the incident, Indian intelligence agencies have identified 14 local terrorists who are actively operating in Jammu and Kashmir, providing logistical and ground support to foreign militants from Pakistan, sources revealed.
