Amid rapidly escalating regional tensions following Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran, the Embassy of India in Israel has issued a safety advisory for all Indian nationals residing in or visiting the country.

In a post shared on its official X handle (@indemtel), the embassy advised Indian citizens to stay vigilant, follow safety guidelines from Israeli authorities, and avoid unnecessary travel within the country.

“In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Israeli authorities and Home Front Command,” the advisory stated, urging people to remain close to safety shelters.

The advisory comes in the wake of a nationwide emergency declared in Israel after a military strike was launched against Iranian nuclear and military targets.

According to The Times of Israel, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed the preemptive strike, warning of a likely missile and drone retaliation by Iran. “A special state of emergency will be imposed on the home front throughout the entire State of Israel,” Katz announced, urging the public to strictly follow instructions from the Home Front Command.

Air raid sirens sounded across Israel as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his security cabinet. The sirens, according to officials, were not indicative of an active attack but were part of a national alert protocol signaling that the country had entered a “new situation.”

Tzvika Tessler of the IDF Home Front Command noted that a significant missile strike from the east could occur within hours. “We will give far-reaching warnings,” Tessler said, adding that incoming threats could involve heavy missiles capable of striking anywhere in Israel.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed it has launched an extensive aerial campaign named “Nation of Lions”, targeting multiple Iranian facilities allegedly tied to Iran’s nuclear program. The IDF claimed Iran possesses enough enriched uranium to build several nuclear bombs within days and described the offensive as a response to an “imminent threat.”

While no physical attack on Israel had occurred at the time of reporting, officials urged maximum preparedness, with missile shelters activated nationwide.

The Indian Embassy continues to monitor the situation and is expected to issue further updates as events unfold.
