Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi will visit Marseille on Tuesday to receive a briefing on the French Army’s 3rd Division, the SHAKTI joint exercise, and the French military’s “Scorpion” modernisation programme, followed by a live demonstration in Carpiagne.
General Dwivedi’s visit, from February 24 to 27, is aimed at strengthening India-France defence cooperation. During his trip, he will be briefed on the role and mission of the 3rd Division, India-France training efforts, and the progress of France’s military modernisation. The visit will include witnessing live firing exercises as part of the Scorpion Division demonstration.
Earlier, General Dwivedi met senior French military officials at Les Invalides and visited key military institutions in Paris, including the Ecole Militaire and the Battle Lab Terre in Versailles. He will also honor Indian soldiers at the Neuve Chapelle Indian War Memorial and deliver a lecture on modern warfare at the Ecole de Guerre. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to enhance military collaboration between India and France, following recent discussions on disarmament and non-proliferation.
