Reaffirming India’s uncompromising stance against terrorism, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha, who is leading a multi-party parliamentary delegation to Indonesia, declared on Wednesday that India will make no distinction between terrorists and the states that support them. He emphasized the need for unified international strategies to combat terrorism and sought cooperation from Indonesia’s think tanks and academic institutions to influence future policymaking.

The Indian delegation participated in an ‘Interaction with Think Tanks and Academia’ session in Jakarta, where Jha addressed Indonesian intellectuals and policy influencers. He condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, describing it as a calculated attempt to destabilize peace and harmony in India.

“India, along with countries like Indonesia, has a zero-tolerance policy for terrorism. From now on, we will not differentiate between terrorists and the countries that support them. We will not succumb to nuclear blackmail. Those who shelter terrorists cannot hide behind the nuclear umbrella,” Jha stated.

He praised Indonesia for its clear position against terrorism and stressed that support from its think tank community could help shape impactful global counter-terrorism strategies. “We seek support from academia and thought leaders to ensure the world understands India’s position and joins hands in eliminating terrorism at its root,” he added.

Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, also part of the delegation, highlighted the shared social and religious pluralism of India and Indonesia. “Our enemies want to destroy this very fabric of our society. That is why we are here — to speak with friends who understand our pain and are committed to defeating terrorism together,” he said.

Khurshid underscored Indonesia’s understanding of India’s concerns, given its own experiences with terrorism, and reiterated the importance of building a unified global response to the threat.

The delegation, which includes leaders from BJP, TMC, CPI-M, and other parties, also met with ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn. The meeting highlighted ASEAN’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with India and emphasized the need for stronger regional cooperation on security matters.
