Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu represented India at the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, where he highlighted India’s rapid aviation growth and announced new initiatives to strengthen global cooperation.

Naidu met ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano and Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar on the sidelines of the assembly. He underlined India’s appreciation for ICAO’s support and discussed the country’s vision to play a greater leadership role in global aviation.

“The ICAO’s theme of ‘No Country Left Behind’ aligns perfectly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guiding principle of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam—the world is one family. India is fully committed to this cause,” Naidu said in a post on X.

He also stressed India’s focus on sustainability and inclusivity in aviation, citing steps towards Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) adoption and increasing women’s participation in the sector.

On the sidelines of the assembly, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICAO to conduct a technical study aimed at shaping India’s future aviation growth. The study will offer recommendations to ensure airport expansion is environmentally harmonious while supporting economic development through aerotropolis and aerocity models.

“This ICAO-led study will pave the way for developing airports as hubs of economic growth and innovation,” the minister said.

Naidu’s participation at ICAO reflects India’s ambition to share its technical expertise, expand global partnerships, and reinforce its rising role in international civil aviation.
