India successfully neutralised a wave of drone and missile attacks launched by Pakistan on the night of May 7, targeting military installations across Northern and Western India. The attempted strikes followed India’s earlier Operation Sindoor, in which nine major terror sites within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) were destroyed in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Pakistan attempted strikes focused on locations such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Chandigarh, Bhuj, and more, using unmanned aerial systems and missiles. However, these attacks were thwarted by India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems, including the S-400 Sudarshan Chakra, which engaged and eliminated the threats. Debris recovered from multiple sites confirms the attempted Pakistani aggression.

In a measured but forceful counter-response, Indian Armed Forces launched targeted strikes early Thursday morning on Pakistani air defence radars and systems, with one such system reportedly neutralised in Lahore. Sources stated that India’s retaliation was in the same domain and intensity as Pakistan’s attempted offensive.

As part of Operation Sindoor, the Indian military had previously carried out precision strikes on nine terror camps associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen, located in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya in Pakistan, as well as five camps in PoJK.

Despite the Indian Armed Forces’ call for non-escalation, Pakistan has intensified unprovoked artillery and mortar shelling across the Line of Control, causing civilian casualties in Kupwara, Uri, Poonch, and Rajouri sectors. Sixteen civilians, including three women and five children, have lost their lives.

India has reiterated that while it seeks de-escalation, any continued provocation from Pakistan will be met with firm and proportionate action to ensure national security and civilian safety.
