DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who is leading an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation to Greece, said the group has returned with a “positive feeling” that Greece stands firmly with India in its fight against cross-border terrorism, particularly that emanating from Pakistan.
In a statement to ANI, Kanimozhi emphasized that the delegation clearly conveyed India’s position on state-sponsored terrorism and called for greater accountability at the international level. “We have been able to convey that India has been hurt by cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, and now we can no longer distinguish between terror and state-sponsored terrorism,” she said. “The European Union and United Nations Security Council must take cognisance and ensure accountability.”
Kanimozhi added that India’s longstanding civilizational ties with Greece provided a strong foundation for meaningful dialogue. “We’re returning with a positive feeling that Greece stands with us,” she affirmed.
Supporting her sentiments, Aam Aadmi Party MP Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal said the delegation received a warm and supportive response in Greece. He also highlighted the enthusiastic backing of the Indian diaspora. “All have said with an open heart that they will support India on all national and international forums and condemn Pakistan-sponsored terrorism,” Mittal noted.
BJP MP Capt. (Retd) Brijesh Chowta described the cooperation between India and Greece as a natural alignment of two ancient civilizations with shared values. He emphasized that the delegation’s outreach under Operation Sindoor goes beyond merely responding to Pakistan’s role in terrorism. “What we’re trying to do through Operation Sindoor is not just about dealing with Pakistan, which is, of course, our primary target. It is about uprooting the entire terror infrastructure and leading the global battle against terrorism in a Dharmic way,” Chowta said.
Former Indian Ambassador to the EU, Manjeev Singh Puri, stressed the importance of unity among civilizational nations like Greece and India in confronting global terrorism. “They [Greece] have a strong understanding of terrorism and are well aware of the country from which it has spread globally — Pakistan,” Puri said. “They’ve told us clearly that they stand with us.”
The delegation, which includes representatives from the BJP, DMK, AAP, Samajwadi Party, RJD, National Conference, and former diplomats, is part of a larger international effort to present India’s position in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
As part of Operation Sindoor, the delegation is engaging with leaders and civil societies in Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia to counter global misinformation and reaffirm India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
