Coumar Ananda, President of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry France-India, hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to France and India’s role in co-chairing the AI Action Summit as a pivotal milestone for both nations. Ananda also highlighted the increasing geopolitical significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its far-reaching impact on global governance, security, and workforce development.

Speaking about the event, Ananda remarked, “For us, this visit by the Prime Minister and, more importantly, India co-chairing the AI Action Summit in Paris, is a crucial milestone for both India and France. It holds great importance not only from a technological perspective but also politically and geopolitically. AI is no longer just a simple technology—it’s evolved into something much more impactful today.”

He emphasized that AI has become a geopolitical issue, adding, “India and France are leading this global initiative to hold the summit in Paris, which will focus on five key themes: Global governance of AI, AI for the public interest and common good, the impact on culture and the creative industries, workforce and HR development, and, importantly, security, addressing cyber threats we foresee today. India now has a voice on the global stage, and these themes will be discussed in-depth during the summit.”

Ananda also expressed hopes for increased cooperation between India and France, saying, “We hope to see more collaboration between the two countries as a result of this summit.”

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to co-chair the AI Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron and will also address the India-France CEOs forum during his visit to France from February 10 to 12.

In a press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized the growing role of AI, highlighting India’s expectation that AI applications be developed, deployed, and utilized in a safe, responsible, and ethical manner.

This will be Prime Minister Modi’s sixth official visit to France.
