Reaffirming its principled stand on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, India has once again called for an immediate ceasefire, underscoring that humanitarian aid must transcend politics and conflict. The statement came from India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, at a high-level international conference in New York on “The Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.”

Ambassador Harish strongly emphasised the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that tens of thousands have been killed, medical infrastructure has been destroyed, and children have been deprived of education for over 20 months.

“Humanitarian assistance is vital in sustaining life and must remain outside the realm of politics or conflict,” he stated, reiterating India’s call for:

  • An immediate ceasefire
  • Sustained and unimpeded humanitarian assistance
  • Release of all hostages
  • A return to dialogue and diplomacy

He also commended efforts by friendly nations to facilitate such measures and stressed that Palestinians in Gaza must have access to essentials like food and fuel without obstruction.

Speaking on the long-term resolution, the ambassador reiterated India’s consistent support for a two-state solution, urging purposeful engagement to bring both parties to the negotiating table.

“Let us not be content with paper solutions,” he said, “but strive to achieve practical outcomes that improve the lives of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.”

India also expressed its readiness to contribute constructively to peacebuilding efforts and the follow-up of action points from the conference, reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the Middle East.
