Praising President Donald Trump’s unwavering focus on America’s national interests, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized his own commitment to putting India’s national interest first.

“One important lesson I have learned from President Trump is his steadfast dedication to the national interest, and like him, I also prioritize India’s national interest above everything else. This has been my guiding principle,” PM Modi shared during his remarks after a meeting with President Trump at the White House.

PM Modi reiterated his promise to accelerate the India-US partnership in his third term as Prime Minister, alongside President Trump’s second term. “As I promised the people of India, in my third term, we will work with double the speed. I firmly believe that with President Trump’s second term, we will accelerate our progress even faster than we did during the first term,” Modi affirmed.

Highlighting the powerful synergy between the two democracies, Modi remarked, “The US is the world’s oldest democracy, and India is the world’s largest. When India and the US collaborate, it is not just one plus one, but eleven. This is the power of eleven that will benefit humanity.”

He also reaffirmed India’s ambitious goal to become a developed nation by 2047. “We have the resolve of 1.4 billion people to make India a developed country by 2047, marking the 100th anniversary of our independence,” Modi said.

President Trump also underscored his administration’s focus on fair trade practices and strengthening economic ties with India. “I call it the element of success—reciprocal tariffs, where if someone charges us, we charge them the same amount. This has never been done before. For too long, we allowed unfair practices, but that’s no longer the case,” Trump declared.

Taking a jab at the previous administration, Trump added, “We’re not trying to beat anyone. We’re focused on doing a great job for the American people. We had a fantastic four years, which was interrupted by a terrible administration that didn’t know what they were doing. We’re putting it back together, and it will end up much stronger than before.”

Praising Prime Minister Modi, Trump said, “This is a terrific man. We’re going to make some wonderful trade deals for both India and the US.”
