Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, part of the Baijayant Panda-led all-party delegation, was hospitalised in Kuwait due to extreme heat. Azad, who is participating in a multi-nation diplomatic tour aimed at countering misinformation and advocating India’s stance against terrorism, confirmed his condition via a post on X.
“Blessed to share that despite the extreme heat in Kuwait affecting my health, by God’s grace I’m doing fine and recovering well. All test results are normal. Thank you all for your concern and prayers — it truly means a lot!” Azad wrote.
BJP MP Baijayant Panda, who is heading the delegation, expressed regret over Azad’s absence for the upcoming meetings in Saudi Arabia and Algeria. “Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad has had to be admitted to hospital. He is stable, under medical supervision, and undergoing tests. His contributions in Bahrain and Kuwait were impactful, and he is disappointed at being bedridden. We will deeply miss his presence,” Panda said on X.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also extended his well wishes, writing, “Concerned to learn that one of the high-profile delegation members sent out to bolster India’s narrative against Pakistani terrorism has been hospitalised in Kuwait. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
Despite the setback, the delegation has now arrived in Saudi Arabia, where it continues its mission to present India’s resolute stand against cross-border terrorism. The group was welcomed by Maj. Gen. Abdulrahman Alharbi, Chair of the India-Saudi Arabia Friendship Committee of the Shura Council.
“India’s stand on terrorism is resolute and uncompromising — a message we bring to Saudi Arabia with our all-party delegation,” Panda noted on X, praising the warm reception as the group commenced key diplomatic engagements in the region.
The delegation, which includes BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, Satnam Singh Sandhu, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, former CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, and former diplomat Harsh Shringla, is part of a larger initiative involving seven parallel groups. Each is tasked with engaging global partners and countering false narratives about India’s anti-terror operations, including the recently launched Operation Sindoor following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
