EAM Jaishankar Delivers Keynote Address at 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Oman

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar participated in the 8th Indian Ocean Conference held in Oman, where he delivered the keynote address during the inaugural session. In addition to his address, Jaishankar launched a logo marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman, and unveiled a book detailing the shared history of the two nations.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted that Jaishankar’s keynote address emphasized India’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and ensuring stability and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.

During his visit, EAM Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister. The two leaders reviewed the broad scope of India-Oman relations, with Jaishankar expressing his gratitude to Oman for hosting the Indian Ocean Conference and for its continuous support in strengthening the bilateral ties. Discussions also focused on further opportunities to boost collaboration across various sectors of mutual interest.

Additionally, EAM Jaishankar, alongside Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, launched the special logo commemorating 70 years of diplomatic ties between India and Oman. This logo, marking the anniversary in 2025, symbolizes the enduring partnership built on shared history, culture, and strong people-to-people connections.

Jaishankar also introduced the book Mandvi to Muscat: Indian Community and the Shared History of India and Oman, co-launched with Oman’s Foreign Minister. The book, published by the Embassy of India in Muscat, chronicles the rich history of the Indian diaspora in Oman and the long-standing cultural and historical ties between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the conference, EAM Jaishankar engaged in bilateral talks with the foreign ministers of Brunei, Bangladesh, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, and Nepal. The discussions revolved around key regional and global issues of mutual interest, reaffirming India’s dedication to deepening engagement within the Indian Ocean region.

Jaishankar also shared key takeaways from his visit via a post on social media, reaffirming the strong and dynamic relationship between India and Oman, and setting the stage for future collaboration on both bilateral and regional levels.
