Members of the Indian diaspora in the United Kingdom, particularly from the Dawoodi Bohra community, warmly welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his official visit, praising his longstanding relationship with their community and commending his leadership on the global stage.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Prime Minister Modi. As Dawoodi Bohras, we are very proud of the relationship that the Prime Minister has with our community. He’s been a friend of our community for many years,” said a community member in London.

Another member expressed, “I’m very excited. This is my first time personally meeting PM Modi. He’s a great friend to the Dawoodi Bohra community. We hope he will one day visit our mosque here in the UK.”

The enthusiasm over the Prime Minister’s visit was not limited to the Dawoodi Bohra community. Other members of the broader Indian diaspora echoed admiration for Modi’s vision and achievements.

Preena, an Indian-origin resident of London, said, “I am so excited to see PM Modi. My family and I are huge fans. He has made India a Vishwaguru and strengthened our country’s position on the world stage.”

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the UK is part of a two-nation diplomatic tour and marks his fourth official trip to the country since taking office. He previously visited in 2015, 2018, and during the COP26 summit in Glasgow in 2021.

His current visit holds significant diplomatic weight as India and the UK are poised to sign a Free Trade Agreement aimed at boosting bilateral trade, creating jobs, and enhancing cooperation across sectors including defence, technology, education, and sustainability.

In a statement before his departure, PM Modi emphasized the growing strength of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, stating that collaboration spans diverse fields such as investment, innovation, health, and people-to-people ties.

During his UK stay, PM Modi will hold key talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and is scheduled to call on King Charles III. Both nations aim to increase bilateral trade to USD 120 billion by 2030.

Following his UK visit, the Prime Minister will head to the Maldives as part of the second leg of his diplomatic tour.
