In a move set to boost tourism and people-to-people ties, Argentina has eased visa requirements for Indian citizens holding valid US tourist visas, Ambassador Mariano Caucino announced on Wednesday.

According to a resolution published in Argentina’s official gazette, Indian nationals with US tourist visas can now enter Argentina without applying separately for an Argentine visa.

Welcoming the decision, Ambassador Caucino posted on X: “The Argentine Government has eased entry into the country for Indian citizens with US visas. This is wonderful news for both Argentina and India. We’re ready to welcome more Indian tourists into our beautiful country.”

The development comes as New Delhi and Buenos Aires deepen cooperation across multiple sectors. In July, the two countries held the second Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on Agriculture in New Delhi, co-chaired by Indian Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and Argentine Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries Sergio Iraeta.

During the meeting, both sides underscored opportunities in agricultural mechanisation, pest control, climate-resilient farming, joint research, and advanced technologies like genome editing and plant breeding. Officials also discussed collaborations in horticulture, oilseeds, pulses, carbon credits for farmers, biopesticides, precision agriculture, and market access.

Indian officials, including representatives from the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, ICAR, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and the Ministry of External Affairs, participated in the discussions.

The latest visa relaxation, along with enhanced agricultural cooperation, highlights the growing momentum in India-Argentina relations.
