Amir of Qatar Receives Guard of Honour and Ceremonial Welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, was accorded a Guard of Honour and a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. He was warmly received by President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and senior government ministers.

During the ceremony, the Qatari Amir had interactions with various ministers, and President Murmu engaged with the accompanying Qatari delegation.

Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in New Delhi on Monday for a two-day state visit, during which he will hold important discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a special gesture, Prime Minister Modi personally welcomed the Amir at the Palam Technical Airport, referring to him as his “brother” and wishing him a successful visit to India.

Following the Amir’s arrival, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also met with him.

The Amir is accompanied by a high-level delegation, which includes ministers, senior officials, and a business delegation. This is his second state visit to India, having previously visited in March 2015.

During his visit, the Amir will hold discussions with President Murmu, who will also host a banquet in his honour. The talks with Prime Minister Modi will focus on enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

The Indian community in Qatar, which is the largest expatriate group in the country, plays a significant role in Qatar’s progress and development, an official release stated. This visit is expected to further strengthen the growing multifaceted partnership between India and Qatar, which has been expanding across a range of sectors.

India and Qatar’s cooperation continues to thrive, supported by their long-standing historical ties and high-level engagement between the two governments.
