Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly praised the outstanding performances of pacers Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj after India’s emphatic 336-run victory over England in the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, calling it proof of the “immense talent” in Indian cricket.

Akash Deep, playing a key role in India’s first-ever win at the venue, delivered a match-winning 10-wicket haul — claiming 4/88 in the first innings and 6/99 in the second. Siraj too shone, especially in the first innings, where he returned figures of 6/70, followed by 1/57 in the second.

“Our boys are good. We often only mention Bumrah and Kohli, but India has immense talent,” Ganguly told ANI. “Akash Deep is good, Siraj is good. Shubman is good. Yashasvi is good. There is talent everywhere.”

India’s massive victory at Edgbaston not only levelled the five-match Test series 1-1 but also marked their first-ever win at the iconic ground after seven losses and one draw.

Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a commanding display, smashing 269 in the first innings and a rapid 161 in the second, while forming key partnerships with Ravindra Jadeja and others. His batting set the tone for India’s dominance.

Meanwhile, Akash Deep’s ability to dismiss top-order batters like Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Ben Duckett in the second innings dismantled England’s chase of a massive 608-run target.

With India’s young guns stepping up in all departments, the series now heads to Lord’s with renewed momentum and optimism for the visitors.
