As the Asia Cup 2025 begins, Team India has turned its focus to sharpening fielding skills with high-intensity drills under the guidance of fielding coach T Dilip. The session included competitive direct-hit exercises, with the squad split into two groups to simulate match-like pressure.

Ahead of their opening match against the UAE on September 10, Dilip stressed the importance of fielders creating breakthroughs. “We have to earn a couple of wickets ourselves as fielders, apart from bowlers in this T20, and the best way to do it is to get some direct hits,” he said in a video shared by BCCI.

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav echoed the sentiment, calling fielding a critical factor in India’s fitness and overall performance. “If we want to be the fittest team leading into the World Cup, fielding is one area where we can focus really well. Let’s be energetic on the ground—it has to come from the fielding unit,” Yadav noted.

India’s group-stage fixtures include matches against UAE (September 10), Pakistan (September 14 in Dubai), and Oman (September 19 in Abu Dhabi). The top two teams will advance to the Super 4 stage (September 20–26), with Dubai hosting the final on September 28.
