YouTuber Jasbir Singh, accused of links with a Pakistan-based espionage network, has been remanded to three days of police custody by a Mohali court, according to DSP Pawan Sharma of the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC).

Singh, who runs a YouTube channel named “Jaan Mahal”, is alleged to have ties with PIO Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, a known operative in a terror-backed spying ring. He is also linked to Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, already in custody for similar charges, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and former official at the Pakistan High Commission who was expelled from India.

According to the Punjab Police, Jasbir Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish’s invitation, where he allegedly met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. He is said to have travelled to Pakistan three times—in 2020, 2021, and 2024. His electronic devices, which reportedly contain numerous Pakistan-based contacts, are currently undergoing forensic analysis.

Following the arrest of Jyoti Malhotra on similar espionage charges, Singh allegedly tried to erase digital traces of his interactions with suspected operatives to evade detection. A case has been registered at SSOC, Mohali.

In a related development, Jyoti Malhotra was earlier remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. She is accused of maintaining regular contact with Pakistani citizen Ahsan-ur-Rahim and of having shared sensitive information. Investigations revealed that she had travelled to Pakistan twice and met the suspected spy at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi in 2023.

Authorities are now cross-verifying leads involving Jyoti’s travels to Jagannath Temple in Puri, Chilika Lake, and Konark, and her communications with a YouTuber from Odisha, as confirmed by IGP CID Crime Branch, Sarthak Sarangi.

The case has sparked serious national security concerns, as investigations continue into the broader network allegedly involving digital influencers and espionage activities across states.
