Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed India’s youth as the nation’s “capital and guarantee of a bright future,” while distributing over 51,000 appointment letters to new recruits during the 16th Rozgar Mela, held across 47 locations via video conferencing.

Speaking to the newly appointed candidates, PM Modi said the world is now recognising the dual strengths of India’s demography and democracy, calling the youth both the “engine of growth” and “pillar of prosperity.” He emphasized the government’s efforts to transform this demographic advantage into economic opportunity.

“India has the world’s largest youth population and the largest democracy. This strength is our capital and a guarantee of our future. The government is working to turn this strength into prosperity,” he said.

Referring to his recent visits to five countries, PM Modi noted that bilateral agreements signed during the trip would bolster India’s manufacturing and services sectors, especially in defence, pharmaceuticals, digital technology, energy, and rare earth minerals, creating new opportunities for young Indians.

Addressing the evolving nature of employment, he said the government had updated its policies to reflect the demands of the 21st century.

“Jobs are changing. New sectors are emerging. We are preparing our youth for this shift with new-age policies. Startups, innovation, and research are expanding opportunities,” he said, applauding young entrepreneurs for their bold ambitions.

He congratulated the appointees and underlined the principle of “Rashtriya Sewa” (National Service), encouraging them to serve with dedication regardless of department or role.

“You’ve received a platform to serve the nation. Whatever your job or location, one principle must guide you—citizens first. I congratulate all of you on beginning this new journey.”

The Rozgar Mela initiative, launched to accelerate employment generation, has now facilitated the issuance of over 10 lakh appointment letters nationwide. Recruits from this edition will join ministries including Railways, Home Affairs, Posts, Health and Family Welfare, Labour and Employment, and others.
