Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday expressed deep anguish over the tragic stampede near the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, which claimed six lives.

Calling the incident “extremely distressing,” CM Dhami said in a post on X, “It is extremely distressing to receive news of a stampede on the route to the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar. @uksdrf, local police, and other rescue teams have reached the site and are engaged in relief and rescue operations.”

He added that he is in constant contact with the local administration and is closely monitoring the situation to ensure timely assistance. “I pray to Mother Goddess for the safety and well-being of all devotees,” he wrote.

The stampede occurred due to a massive crowd that had gathered at the temple on Sunday. Garhwal Division Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed the fatalities and said he was heading to the site. A detailed report is awaited.

Visuals from the scene showed injured devotees being rushed to hospitals as rescue operations continued. More updates are expected as officials assess the situation.
