Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presided over a cabinet meeting on Thursday, preparing for the presentation of the state budget.

Ahead of the budget session, Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna emphasized that CM Yogi’s sole focus is to transform the state into an “Uttam” Pradesh, boosting per capita income and ensuring prosperity for all. “There is no personal agenda. A government without a personal agenda is the best kind of government. Everything is focused on the welfare of the state’s 25 crore people. The size of the budget will be disclosed in the Vidhan Sabha. This budget is inclusive of everyone,” he said.

Khanna also took a moment to pray at his residence before heading to the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, where he will present the state budget in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath.

Earlier, CM Adityanath urged the opposition to cooperate so that the legislative session runs smoothly through to March 5. “This session will pass the budget for the entire year, along with discussions on other important issues concerning the welfare and development of the people. The state budget for 2025-26 will be presented on February 20. The session will continue until March 5. The double-engine BJP government has set unprecedented standards for UP’s development in recent years. The opposition, frustrated and disappointed, tries to avoid discussing these achievements and obstruct the House proceedings. If the opposition engages constructively, this can be a very productive session,” he stated.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak assured that the budget to be presented on Thursday is focused on development. “This budget is dedicated to development and will mark a significant milestone,” he said.

Minister Sanjay Nishad also shared his perspective, urging the opposition to raise issues for the people’s benefit in a constructive manner. “It’s the opposition’s responsibility to voice the concerns of the people. This should be done positively and democratically,” Nishad said.
