Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya announced that several “important” decisions will be made during the cabinet meeting scheduled to take place today at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
Speaking to ANI, Maurya stated, “A cabinet meeting will be held here in the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh area today. January 22 is a significant day, as last year on this date ‘Ram Lalla’ became ‘virajman’ in Ayodhya. Many important decisions will be taken in the Cabinet meeting today, and all cabinet members, along with the Chief Minister, will also take a holy dip at Sangam.”
Maurya further highlighted the significance of January 22, marking the anniversary of the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This year, the event was celebrated earlier, on January 13, during Kurma Dwadashi, in the Shukla Paksha of the Hindu calendar’s Paush month.
UP Minister of Jails Dara Singh Chauhan welcomed everyone to Prayagraj and confirmed that the cabinet meeting would be historic. “I welcome everyone to this land of Sanatan Dharma and Sangam. Today’s Cabinet meeting will be important, as historic decisions will be made here,” Chauhan told ANI.
UP Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna praised the grand organization of the Maha Kumbh and mentioned that key decisions related to the state’s development would be taken in the meeting. “We are happy with the grand scale of the Kumbh being organized here. People from all over the world are excited to attend. After the cabinet meeting, we will take a holy dip. The Chief Minister aims to establish medical colleges in every district of the state, and a proposal will be presented today. Several other decisions will be taken to achieve the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a 1 trillion dollar economy. Law and order will be a priority for the government,” Khanna said.
UP Director General of Police Prashant Kumar confirmed that the cabinet meeting would be held at noon, followed by a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam for the Chief Minister and other ministers.
All 54 ministers of the Uttar Pradesh cabinet have been invited to the meeting, which is expected to approve several significant proposals and schemes for the state’s development.
This is not the first time CM Yogi Adityanath has led his cabinet to the Sangam. In 2019, during the Kumbh Mela, he took a ceremonial dip alongside his ministers, Akhada Parishad President Narendra Giri, and other prominent religious figures.
The Maha Kumbh, one of the largest and most significant religious congregations in the world, began on January 13 and will continue until February 26. The key upcoming ‘snan’ (holy dip) dates are January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
For security, over 10,000 police personnel, including local and paramilitary forces, have been deployed at the event, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has stationed a “water ambulance” at Sangam to ensure the safety of devotees.
