Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday distributed gas cylinder refill subsidies worth Rs 1,890 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, benefiting 1.86 crore eligible families across the state.

During a program in Lucknow, CM Yogi emphasized that the scheme was part of the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its beneficiaries. “Today, we are distributing free cooking gas cylinders as part of the Ujjwala Yojana, an initiative aimed at supporting families and improving their lives,” he said. He also revealed that the total allocation for the scheme was Rs 3,760 crore, with the state government covering the entire cost.

The initiative, which supports families during festive seasons like Holi and Ramadan, aims to ensure that families can celebrate with peace of mind. CM Yogi also shared that nearly 2 crore people in Uttar Pradesh have already benefitted from the scheme, with plans to expand it further to support more households.

“We will continue this effort and support every household in need,” CM Yogi added. He also highlighted the government’s focus on food security, mentioning how it had ensured food rations reached vulnerable communities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 2021, the state government has been providing free gas refills to eligible families during major festivals like Diwali and Holi as part of the Ujjwala Yojana. Additionally, CM Yogi spoke about other welfare schemes, including the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which provides financial assistance to families with daughters to support their education and welfare.
