A special cabinet meeting of the Uttar Pradesh government, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, commenced on Wednesday at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Deputy CM Keshav Prashad Maurya confirmed that the meeting would focus on making several important decisions for the state’s development.

“Many important decisions will be taken in today’s Cabinet meeting. Afterward, all cabinet members, along with the CM, will take a holy dip at the Sangam,” Maurya said.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who is also attending the meeting, extended a warm welcome to the saints and devotees attending the Maha Kumbh. “I welcome all the saints and seers who have gathered here for the Maha Kumbh. The Cabinet meeting will be held, and after that, all members will take a holy dip,” Pathak stated.

UP Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar mentioned that details of the decisions would be shared only after the meeting. “We will be briefed on the decisions after the Cabinet meeting. Once that’s done, all ministers will go together for a dip in the Ganga,” Rajbhar said.

The meeting, which includes all 54 ministers of the Uttar Pradesh cabinet, is expected to approve several significant proposals and schemes aimed at the state’s progress.

After the cabinet discussions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with his entire cabinet, will take a ceremonial dip in the sacred waters of the Triveni Sangam. This is not the first time CM Yogi has led his cabinet to the Sangam; during the 2019 Kumbh Mela, he took a ceremonial dip with his ministers, Akhada Parishad President Narendra Giri, and other prominent religious figures.

The Maha Kumbh, one of the largest and most significant religious gatherings in the world, continues until February 26. The key upcoming ‘snan’ (holy dip) dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).

For security, over 10,000 police personnel, including local police and paramilitary forces, have been deployed, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has stationed a “water ambulance” at Sangam to ensure the safety of the millions of devotees attending the event.
