Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Prayagraj today to participate in the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela 2025, as confirmed by the Mahakumbh Media Centre.

Shah is scheduled to arrive in Prayagraj at 11:25 AM on Monday. His first activity will be to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. Following the spiritual ritual, he will visit the Bade Hanuman Ji Temple and the Abhayvat.

The Home Minister’s itinerary includes a visit to Juna Akhara, where he will meet Maharaj and other saints and enjoy a meal with them. He will also visit Guru Sharananand Ji’s Ashram to meet Guru Sharananand Ji and Govind Giri Ji Maharaj. Shah’s visit will conclude with a meeting with the Shankaracharyas of Sringeri, Puri, and Dwaraka.

Shah is expected to depart from Prayagraj for Delhi in the evening.

In another notable event, Yog Guru Baba Ramdev is conducting a free yoga therapy and meditation camp at the Mahakumbh Mela. The camp has already attracted attention, with the arrival of the 7th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche, who joined the ongoing activities.

The Mahakumbh Mela, held once every 12 years, is drawing a record number of devotees. Since its commencement on January 13, over 110 million devotees have visited Prayagraj, with many taking part in the sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam. The event, which runs until February 26, is expected to attract more than 45 crore visitors, making it a historic occasion for India.

The holy dip at the Sangam, believed to absolve sins and grant moksha (liberation), is an essential part of the Mahakumbh tradition. Rooted in Sanatan Dharma, the event is marked by a celestial alignment that is considered an auspicious time for spiritual cleansing and devotion.
