Two Indian Army personnel lost their lives in the line of duty on the ninth day of an ongoing counter-terror operation in the Akhal Devsar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials confirmed on Friday.

The Chinar Corps paid homage to Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, lauding their courage and dedication. “Their supreme sacrifice will forever inspire us. The Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families. Operation continues,” the Corps posted on X.

Security forces have so far neutralised one terrorist during the operation, which began last week. The joint effort involves the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG). According to the Chinar Corps, “Intermittent and intense firefight continued through the night. Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the noose while maintaining contact.”

In a separate development, Baramulla Police busted a terrorist hideout in the Gogaldara-Danwas forest, seizing a pistol, magazine, nine rounds of ammunition, a grenade, and medical supplies. An FIR has been registered at PS Tangmarg, and investigations are underway.

Earlier, on July 30, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps neutralised two terror operatives in the Poonch sector while they were attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control.

Security operations across Jammu and Kashmir remain ongoing as forces continue their crackdown on militant activities.
