Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh: Two security personnel were evacuated for medical treatment after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxals in the Abujhmad area of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, police reported on Thursday.

According to officials, the explosion caused dust and debris to enter the eyes of a jawan and an officer, though no serious injuries were sustained. Both personnel were immediately evacuated from the operation site for medical attention.

“Naxalites carried out an IED blast in Abujhmad today. Due to the explosion, dust and mud entered the eyes of a jawan and an officer. They were quickly evacuated for treatment, and no one suffered serious injuries,” a Narayanpur Police spokesperson stated.

In response to the attack, security forces have launched a search operation in the region to track down the insurgents responsible. Further updates on the situation are awaited.

Meanwhile, in a separate anti-Naxal operation at the Bijapur-Dantewada border, security forces neutralized two Naxalites during an encounter. However, a personnel from the Bijapur District Reserve Guard lost his life during the clash.

Weapons and ammunition have been recovered as the search operations continue in the Gangaloor police station area, police confirmed.
